Thomas Riddell earned a B.A. in economics from Swarthmore College and a Ph.D. from American University in Washington, D.C.
Riddell's research and teaching interests include U.S. and global public policy, particularly the economics of military spending and the environmental dimensions of global economic activity.
He is the co-author of a one-semester introductory economics textbook in its fifth edition, and is currently working on a full-year introductory economics textbook and a research project on the conversion of the Northampton State Hospital.
Jean A. Shackelford, is the professor of economics emerita in the department of economics at Bucknell University, Lewisburg, central Pennsylvania, USA and, from 1993 to 1995, was the president of the International Association for Feminist Economics (IAFFE). Her book Economics: a tool for critically understanding society, co-written with Tom Riddell, Stephen C. Stamos and Geoffrey Schneider, is now in its ninth edition.
Her research interests are: the history of economic thought; economic pedagogy; and, economics and technology.
