From School Library Journal:
PreSchool-Grade 2-- Two books that use ``Eyewitness'' series (Knopf) style and format and simplify it for younger children. Both juxtapose exterior photographs of their subjects with cross-section drawings of their interiors. My Body is an excellent elementary introduction to anatomy. Its simple text provides concise information while the photos and drawings offer much more. Skin, head, eyes, ears, chest, stomach, legs and arms, and hands are all included. Gender differences and excretion are not mentioned, but this is still a worthwhile title to use in conjunction with others that are more comprehensive. Toys looks inside an antique teddy bear, a rubber-band powered airplane, a jack-in-the-box, a doll house, a battery-operated robot, a kaleidoscope, a doll that cries and wets, and a Christmas ``popper'' party favor. Beginning readers will appreciate the accessible explanations, while preschoolers will learn a good deal from the pictures. --Dorcas Hand, Annunciation Orthodox School, Houston
