Self-proclaimed "King of the Barnyard," rooster Kadoodle crows when he wants to crow--including all night, which makes the farm animals so tired that they can't do their jobs. Then Honketta the goose "take matters into her own feathers." She tells Kadoodle a story about an even bigger king and his chorus--the planet's best roosters, whose job is to keep the King of the World awake so his "bright eye" will shine and make the corn grow. Kadoodle is eager to join this elite group, so the next day he proudly crows at just the right time. Hayward's animated prose will be great for reading aloud, and Goldfinger's charming, richly hued and textured illustrations incorporate plenty of playful perspectives, expressive animals, and whimsical scenes for kids to enjoy.
