Grade 5-8-- The authors of I Hate School (Crowell, 1986) once again give advice for young teens on how to take control of their lives. This one is for students who never seem to be prepared, are always late, and can never seem to get themselves together in general. The book is written as a dialogue between a teen and the authors. Areas covered are: how to organize time for various activities, how to keep a room neat yet comfortable, and how to budget money. Several chapters are devoted to study skills. Since the book is written in a light, entertaining manner, students should accept the tips. An appendix gives ideas on room arrangement and how to redecorate inexpensively. This section also gives ideas for planning parties. Throughout the book, readers are advised to communicate with their parents or the adult responsible for them, whether it is about redecorating or discussing a problem.
