About the Author:
Camilla Ashforth has written and illustrated many books for children, including WHO DO YOU LOVE? by Martin Waddell. Camilla Ashforth says that the inimitable character of Willow was inspired by a treasured teddy bear that she has kept since childhood. She lives in London, England, with her three children.

Pre-Gr. 1. Ashforth, best known for her picture books about Horatio the stuffed rabbit, gives little listeners a new toy to love, Willow, "the gentlest bear you ever will meet." In these stories Willow also proves himself a thoughtful friend. In his adventure by the sea, he takes all his animal friends from Paradise Farm to his seaside home. After a wonderful day, the friends watch the sunset and settle down for the night. In Willow on the River, the teddy invites a bear friend, Finley, to join him for some fun on a nearby river. They spend the day enjoying such pleasures as hunting for treasure, making a dam, and swinging from a tree branch. Ashforth's petite watercolor-and-pencil illustrations are appropriately soft, gauzy, and subtly colored. These stories certainly aren't page-turners, but many youngsters will find them as comforting as cuddling with a favorite stuffed animal. The overall effect is as mellow as Willow himself.
