The Fabric & Needlecraft Project Book - Hardcover

This book was originally published as part of the compendium Practical Craft Projects. Most projects included require simple hand sewing, applique, patchwork, and/or quilting and can be easily and quickly completed by readers with no previous needlecraft skills. Unfortunately, despite the stellar qualifications of the crafts artists who contributed to this work, most of the finished projects are singularly uninteresting. Step-by-step instructions with color illustrations are included for each project, but most designs are in miniature and must be scaled up to full size. In some cases, the reader must do the designing and is asked to "design a motif and trace it" or "draw an animal shape on thin card." Beginning needleworkers may balk at having to create or scale up the designs when they can go to almost any modern needlecrafts magazine and find full-sized patterns. Not an essential purchase.
