Gr 1-4-These two attractive volumes have identical illustrations. Each book introduces the same eight-year-old girl and describes her family's daily activities as its members move from their home to the fruit and vegetable store to the corner bookstore to school and so on. A double-page spread is devoted to each locale with about a dozen sentences containing practical French or Spanish phrases sprinkled throughout the colorful scenes. The English translations are printed directly beneath them. A word list includes the vocabulary used throughout each book; however, there are no pronunciation guides. These titles require the assistance of someone who already knows the language(s), which definitely limits their usefulness.-Marilyn Long Graham, Lee County Library System, Estero, FL
