The well-organized, oversized book provides a quick history of the sport, followed by short chapters on equipment, swings, rules, and golf courses. The visually attractive presentation gives advice on warm-ups, professional tips, information about tournaments, and great and funny moments of golf. The clear, interesting, and engaging text includes "amazing" and "strange but true" facts. The attractive, full-color photographs of children and famous golfers executing the skills add to the book's utility as do the strategically placed diagrams. This title is far simpler than Bruce Curtis and Jay Morelli's Beginning Golf (Sterling, 2000) or Mike Adams and T. J. Tomasi's Play Golf for Juniors (Firefly, 2000).
