ELISABETH BRAMI is the author of several books, including Little Moments of Happiness. She works as a psychologist in a hospital for young adults. PHILIPPE BERTRAND, the illustrator for Little Moments of Happiness, has also published several comic book series.

Other, more unusual initiations include "The first time you caught lice," realized that grown-ups lie, and cursed in front of your parents. The text is filled with awkward rhymes and uninspired idea progressions. "The first time/you rode your/bike without/the training wheels-/-at a few of the corners,/you braked with your heels." Bright watercolors show a lively array of bloblike rabbit, dog, and bearlike animals engaged in human actions. This is one first that readers can skip.
