Follow President Gordon B. Hinckley from the set of 60 Minutes to an obscure chapel in Ghana, from a missionary meeting in Veracruz, Mexico, to a branch fireside in Hanoi, Vietnam. Witness for yourself the fulfillment of President Hinckley’s wish, expressed in the October 1995 general conference: "I have a desire to get out with the Latter-day Saints across the world, to look into your faces, to shake your hands wherever possible, to share with you in a more personal and intimate way my feelings concerning this sacred work, and to feel of your spirit and your love of the Lord and His might cause."
This landmark volume includes: · 78 addresses, many never published before · Excerpts from press interviews · Index for handy reference · A wealth of prophetic counsel in one source

Section 1 contains all of President Hinckley’s general conference addresses from 1995 to 1999, as well as all the addresses he gave at general meetings of the Young Women and Relief Society.
Section 2, "Member Meetings," is a representative sample of President Hinckley’s messages to Latter-day Saints in many nations. The 26 discourses in this section were given at regional conferences, missionary meetings, young adult firesides, and other meetings in North and South America, Asia, Africa, Europe, and the islands of the Pacific. This section also includes a message from the First Presidency Christmas Devotional and a Church-wide satellite broadcast on missionary work. These discourses reflect feelings President Hinckley expressed early in his presidency: "I have a desire to get out with the Latter-day Saints across the world, to look into your faces, to shake your hands wherever possible, to share with you in a more personal and intimate way my feelings concerning this sacred work, and to feel of your spirit and your love of the Lord and His might cause" (in Conference Report, Oct. 1995, 92; see also page 49 of this volume). Section 3, "Messages to the General Public," contains interviews with media representatives and speeches given at civic meetings and community events. Included in this selection are his statement to the media the day after he was set apart as President of the Church; excerpts from an interview with Mike Wallace of 60 Minutes; and his remarks at University of Utah commencement exercises, a convention of the NAACP, and the U.S. Conference of Mayors.
The discourses in this volume reveal President Hinckley’s love for God’s children in all parts of the world and his strong desire "to lift people, to strengthen them, to bring purpose into their lives, to provide stability in a world of ever-changing values" (see page 518).
