There is a great deal of frustration in our public life with the chasm between the religious and non-religious. We find it difficult, if not impossible to even talk with folks who disagree with us about matters of faith. We find ourselves isolated from lifetime companions because our deeper experiences of life are at odds with what we see in their everyday life. And we are unable and unwilling to talk with them to sort out the differences. This book seeks to provide common ground for the theist and atheist to talk about the deeper layers of human life. It offers people a neutral ground to talk about their experiences of their faith, whether it involves religious and/or scientific language. This book will help the reader know their faith in a deeper way and learn a new way of sharing that experience with those around them. The author is a Spiritual Director and Retreat Leader who has been engaged in helping people discover paths toward spiritual health for 40 years. As a pastor, a hospice chaplain, and as a spiritual director he has walked with thousands of people as they struggled to make sense of their lives. His previous book, Journey of a Lifetime: Toward Spiritual Health was published in 2009. Since that time Bob has been exploring ways to make faith a fire around which all can warm their souls. In that time, secular faith has become increasingly important. This book seeks to help bridge the chasms that exists between people of differing faiths, theistic and atheistic.
