The exception to the condition is a small rubbed spot on the top of the spine and slight fading. Housed in a beige slipcase in Very Good + condition with the exception of toning on the edges. "The Heritage Press" was an imprint of George Macy Companies from 1937-1982. In 1929, George Macy founded the Limited Editions Club, publishing illustrated books in limited numbers usually 1500 copies. The Heritage Press reprinted affordable classic nineteenth century novels and biographies enabling fine books to reach the mainstream public previously printed by the exclusive publishers.

Marbled design cloth with gilt on black spine lettering, 210 pages, light tan slipcase. The book looks and feels new and unread with some subtle spine fading, a couple of ink smudges in one margin from the printing process, tight binding, no names or other markings. The slipcase has some minor age-toning to the edges, structurally sound. Hard Cover. Fine/Very Good. 4to - over 9¾" - 12" tall.

It is richly illustrated with color illustrations by Pierre Brissaud. The book is attractively bound with a black, gold and red feather-like pattern on the cover and gold colored lettering on the spine. The book is protected with a plain slip cover case. A previous owners name is inscribed on the inside of the front cover and there is an imnpression left by a paper clip on the front end paper. The binding is tight and the pages are clean and without tears, chips or creases. Size: 4to - over 9¾" - 12" tall.
