First Edition Signed
Hardcover. Condition: Very good +. Dust Jacket Condition: near fine. First Edition. Octavo, 154pp., illustrated. A crisp, clean copy, very good or better, with a faint dampstain to thebase of the spine, not affecting the interior. In a very good dust jacket, possibly supplied (as there is no corresponding stain), with a few small abrasions and holes. This copy SIGNED and warmly INSCRIBED by Elaine Stritch, who played the character of Grace in the first Broadway production, on the half-title page: "To the Third "love" of my life. Elaine." Though this is mere supposition, we think the rather cryptic but unmistakably warm tone of the inscription suggests that the subject of the inscription may be her co-star in the Broadway production, Phyllis Love, who played the character of Elma Duckworth. Laid-in is a table name card which simply reads "Elaine," possibly from a cast dinner or something. Note that the book is not signed by Inge. Elaine Stritch did not sign many books, and a meaningful signed book such as this one is much harder to come by than a signed photograph.
