Collection of five reference photographs from the 1995 film, including one on-set photograph of director Paul Verhoeven and Elizabeth Berkley. One of the most hotly contested films of the 1990s. Largely panned at the time of its release, it has since gained enormous cult status, even re-evaluated by some critics and filmmakers, such as Jonathan Rosenbaum, Jim Hoberman, Jim Jarmusch, and Jacques Rivette, defending the film as a serious satire, something actor Kyle MacLachlan dismisses, describing the film as .".horrible. Horrible!" and that "it just gets worse" as it progresses. John Waters may have described it best, "Showgirls is funny, stupid, dirty, and filled with cinematic cliches; in other words, perfect." The only NC-17 film to date to be given wide release in mainstream theaters. Street-smart Nomi (Berkley) arrives in Las Vegas intent on doing whatever it takes to become a top showgirl. Actress Rena Riffel wrote, directed, and starred in the unofficial sequel and parody, "Showgirls 2: Penny's from Heaven" in 2011. Set in and shot on location in Las Vegas, Nevada. 7 x 5 inches. Near Fine.
