P.O. name and date on FFEP; library name plate on inside front cover; card pocket and bar code on first free back end paper. Something was pasted on inside back cover and has been pulled mostly off. Hinges are cracked. 2nd front end paper is partially pulled away from binding. Burgundy boards are tight & straight, with some edge scuffing and slightly bumped corners. Call number taped to spine; bar code taped to back. Gilt lettering on spine is bright and clear. Spine has small tears on bottom and a little fraying on top edge.

"The portable poetry factory on the move again. This time finishing The Bartered Bride!" One postcard, from New York, instructs Whitemore in detail on buying presents to distribute (for Christmas?). A 1918 card is reused (text pasted over) - "Would love to see you again soon. will be mostly in London next year on the on/off Oresteia (I don't know how you've heard it's good, no-one has seen it! I buried it in my metal trunk when I resigned from the NT. Will send you a new book of poems.".
